1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Gist Compound!
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Gist Compound, including our website, games, features, accounts, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Gist Compound is operated and published by Ollyvon Nigeria Limited (“Ollyvon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a company registered in Nigeria.
By accessing or using Gist Compound, whether as a guest or registered player, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information and should be read alongside these Terms.
If you are under the age of legal majority in your country, you may need permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service or agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use Gist Compound.
2. Age Eligibility and Parental Permission
Gist Compound accounts are for players aged 13 years and above, subject to applicable local laws.
Children under 13 may not create an account. They may play the guest version only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on the child’s behalf. Guest play does not send personal information to us.
Players aged 13–17 may use Gist Compound where permitted by applicable law. Where the law of their country requires a parent’s or legal guardian’s permission, the player confirms they have it, and parents and guardians remain responsible for their child’s use of the Service.
Age eligibility and parental-consent requirements may differ depending on a player’s country of residence.
We may request age-related information and reasonable verification to determine eligibility and comply with applicable legal requirements.
Where required, registration or access may be restricted until appropriate permission or verification has been completed.
Parents and guardians may contact legal@gistcompound.com regarding a minor’s account, eligibility, or personal information.
We reserve the right to restrict or close accounts that do not meet applicable eligibility requirements.
3. About the Service
Gist Compound is a browser-based entertainment and informal learning platform inspired by Nigerian culture, languages, food, humour, storytelling, and everyday experiences.
The Service may include cultural quizzes, Nigerian slang challenges, word games, Soup Kitchen, Family Stories, Town Hall Gist, seasonal events, and other interactive activities.
We may introduce, modify, suspend, or discontinue features, games, challenges, rewards, or content as Gist Compound develops.
We aim to provide a reliable and enjoyable experience but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the Service will always be free from errors.
Gist Compound is currently free to play. Any future paid features will be introduced with appropriate terms and disclosures.
Gist Compound is available internationally. Eligibility requirements may vary by location. Personal data may be processed in the United States through Supabase, our account and database provider, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
4. Player Accounts and Security
Players may register for a free account using an email address and password.
By registering, you agree to provide accurate information and keep your account information reasonably up to date.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for activity conducted through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Accounts are personal and may not be sold, transferred, or shared without our permission.
If you suspect unauthorized access, please contact support@gistcompound.com promptly.
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts where reasonably necessary to address serious or repeated violations of these Terms, fraud, security threats, or legal obligations.
Where reasonable and lawful, we will explain the reason for an account restriction and provide an opportunity to contact us.
5. Guest Access
Gist Compound allows players to explore available free games without creating an account.
Guest progress, including virtual coins, gems, achievements, and other temporary game information, is stored locally in the player’s browser.
Guest progress is cleared when a new guest visit begins and is not synchronized across devices.
Guest progress may also be lost if browser data is cleared, the browser is reset, or the device becomes unavailable.
Players may create an account during a guest session to retain eligible current progress, where the game supports that transfer.
We cannot guarantee recovery of guest progress after it has been cleared or lost.
6. Saving Game Progress
Registered players’ game progress is saved through their accounts using our cloud-based service providers.
This may include completed challenges, levels, achievements, virtual balances, unlocked items, and other gameplay information.
Players may access saved progress on supported devices by signing in to the same account.
Saving and synchronization depend on internet connectivity and the proper operation of our systems and service providers.
Temporary technical problems may delay synchronization or affect saved progress.
We take reasonable measures to protect player information and progress but cannot guarantee that technical errors or data loss will never occur.
7. Virtual Coins, Gems, and Rewards
Gist Compound may award virtual coins, gems, hints, vouchers, outfits, themes, achievements, and other virtual items through gameplay.
These items are provided solely for use within Gist Compound.
Virtual items:
- Have no real-world monetary value.
- Are not cash, cryptocurrency, deposits, investments, or financial assets.
- Cannot currently be purchased for real money.
- Cannot be withdrawn, redeemed for cash, sold, or exchanged for goods or services.
- Cannot be transferred between players unless an authorized game feature expressly permits it.
Players receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use virtual items within the Service under the applicable game rules.
We may reasonably adjust rewards, balances, progression systems, or virtual items for gameplay balancing, maintenance, security, or correction of errors, subject to applicable law.
We may correct virtual balances obtained through technical errors, manipulation, cheating, or unauthorized activity.
Virtual items do not create any entitlement to monetary compensation.
If Gist Compound introduces paid items, purchases, prizes, or monetized features in the future, we will provide appropriate additional terms and disclosures before those features become available.
Nothing in this section excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Fair Play and Acceptable Use
We want Gist Compound to remain enjoyable, respectful, and fair.
Players must not:
- Cheat, manipulate scores, or exploit bugs or technical vulnerabilities.
- Use unauthorized bots, scripts, automation, or other tools to interfere with gameplay.
- Attempt to access another player’s account or personal information.
- Circumvent account restrictions, security controls, or eligibility requirements.
- Manipulate virtual balances, rewards, or saved progress.
- Introduce malicious software or interfere with the Service’s operation.
- Scrape, extract, reproduce, or distribute substantial portions of the Service without authorization.
- Impersonate Ollyvon Nigeria Limited, Gist Compound representatives, or other players.
- Submit unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, abusive, or otherwise harmful material through our forms or communication channels.
- Use the Service for fraud or other unlawful activities.
Please report suspected bugs, security issues, or misuse to support@gistcompound.com.
We may take proportionate action against violations, including correcting affected progress, restricting features, suspending accounts, or terminating access.
9. Account Deletion, Suspension, and Termination
Registered players may delete their accounts using the in-game feature:
Profile → Delete Account
Deleting an account permanently removes access to that account and deletes its associated active game progress, virtual balances, achievements, and unlocked items.
Deleted game progress cannot ordinarily be restored.
Certain records or copies may remain temporarily in routine backups, security records, or where retention is required by applicable law, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms, fraudulent conduct, security threats, or legal requirements.
Where reasonable and lawful, we will notify affected players and provide a way to contact us.
Because current virtual items have no monetary value and are not purchased, deleting or terminating an account does not ordinarily create a right to payment for those items.
Nothing in this section limits any mandatory legal rights or remedies available to players.
10. Intellectual Property and Game Content
Gist Compound’s original branding, illustrations, character designs, stories, dialogue, written content, interfaces, software, and other creative materials are owned by Ollyvon Nigeria Limited or used under applicable ownership or licensing arrangements.
These materials may be protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Players receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to access and use the Service for its intended purposes.
Playing Gist Compound does not transfer ownership of its intellectual property.
Players may share ordinary gameplay screenshots, gameplay recordings, reviews, and original commentary on social media, including content eligible for ordinary platform monetization, provided that they:
- Do not falsely imply official sponsorship, endorsement, or partnership.
- Do not redistribute standalone game assets or substantial collections of game content.
- Do not sell or license Gist Compound’s artwork, characters, software, or other protected materials without authorization.
- Comply with applicable laws and the relevant platform’s rules.
Gist Compound does not claim exclusive ownership of Nigerian languages, traditional expressions, common slang, shared cultural practices, or traditional proverbs.

11. Cultural and Educational Content
Gist Compound celebrates Nigerian culture through entertainment, storytelling, and informal learning.
Nigeria’s languages, traditions, expressions, customs, and recipes vary across regions, communities, families, and generations.
Although we aim to present culturally respectful and reasonably accurate information, we do not guarantee that every explanation, translation, recipe, or quiz answer is complete, universally accepted, or error-free.
Players are welcome to submit respectful corrections and suggestions.
Our cultural content should not be treated as an authoritative statement about every Nigerian community or tradition.
12. Town Hall Gist and Civic Awareness
Town Hall Gist is an independent entertainment and informal educational feature intended to encourage civic awareness, critical thinking, fact-checking, and informed decision-making.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, its characters and scenarios are fictional.
Gist Compound is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any electoral commission, political party, candidate, or government agency.
Town Hall Gist does not provide official election instructions, legal advice, or political endorsements.
Players should consult relevant official authorities for current electoral rules, registration requirements, and voting procedures.
13. Feedback, Suggestions, and Contributions
We welcome feedback, cultural corrections, bug reports, suggestions, and ideas from our players.
You may submit feedback through the game’s available feedback feature or our official contact channels.
By voluntarily submitting feedback, you grant Ollyvon Nigeria Limited a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, adapt, and incorporate that feedback into Gist Compound and related services, to the extent you have the rights necessary to grant that licence.
You retain ownership of any intellectual property rights you hold in your submissions.
Submitting feedback does not automatically entitle you to payment, employment, partnership, or credit.
Please submit only material you have the right to share and avoid including sensitive personal information.
Personal information submitted with feedback is handled according to our Privacy Policy.
14. Third-Party Services and External Links
Gist Compound relies on third-party providers for services such as website hosting, account authentication, data storage, and business email.
Our Privacy Policy provides further information about relevant service providers and personal-data processing.
The Service may contain links to external websites or services that we do not operate.
External services may have their own terms, privacy policies, and practices.
We are not responsible for external content or services beyond our control, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
15. Availability, Disclaimers, and Liability
We aim to provide Gist Compound with reasonable care and skill.
However, online games may experience maintenance, interruptions, technical errors, or temporary unavailability.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided on an “as available” basis, without guarantees of uninterrupted access or error-free operation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or other obligations protected by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer protection, privacy, or other legal rights available to players.
16. Player Responsibility
Players are responsible for using Gist Compound lawfully, following the published game rules, protecting their login credentials, and ensuring that information they voluntarily submit is accurate.
Players must not exploit vulnerabilities, manipulate virtual rewards, access another person’s account, impersonate others, or interfere with the operation of the Service.
Players are responsible for losses or harm arising from their own intentional misconduct, fraudulent activities, or unlawful use of the Service, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Players must promptly report suspected unauthorized account access or security vulnerabilities through our official support channels.
Nothing in this section makes players responsible for failures, security incidents, or misconduct attributable to Ollyvon Nigeria Limited or its service providers.
17. Virtual Rewards and Gameplay Risk
Gist Compound is a free entertainment service. Coins, gems, achievements, and other virtual rewards have no cash value and are not financial assets.
Players acknowledge that gameplay outcomes may vary and that virtual rewards, levels, features, and game rules may change as the Service develops.
Ollyvon Nigeria Limited may correct rewards or balances resulting from bugs, cheating, manipulation, or unauthorized activity.
Players are responsible for their own gameplay decisions. No particular score, ranking, achievement, reward, or uninterrupted progression is guaranteed.
This section does not exclude responsibility for failures or losses for which Ollyvon Nigeria Limited is legally liable.
18. Limitations of Liability
Gist Compound is provided as a free entertainment and informal learning service.
Ollyvon Nigeria Limited does not guarantee that gameplay will always be uninterrupted, that every cultural explanation will be universally accepted, or that temporary technical problems will never occur.
We are not responsible for losses caused solely by a player’s unlawful conduct, intentional misuse, unauthorized modifications, or failure to follow reasonable security instructions, where we have not contributed to the loss.
We are not responsible for independent third-party websites or services outside our control, except where applicable law imposes responsibility on us.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for fraud, negligence, breaches of mandatory consumer rights, unlawful processing of personal information, or other matters where exclusion or restriction is prohibited by law.
19. Protection of Company Personnel
Gist Compound is operated and published by Ollyvon Nigeria Limited.
The company is the contracting party responsible for providing the Service under these Terms.
References to the game’s creator, directors, employees, contractors, or representatives do not make those individuals separate contracting parties merely because of their involvement with the game.
Nothing in this section excludes personal liability that may arise independently under applicable law.
20. Enforcement of Game Rules
Where we reasonably determine that a player has violated these Terms, we may take proportionate measures, including issuing warnings, correcting manipulated balances, restricting affected features, suspending accounts, or terminating access.
We may preserve relevant evidence of suspected fraud, abuse, or security incidents in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Where reasonable and lawful, affected players may contact us to request a review of enforcement decisions.
21. Player Misconduct and Third-Party Claims
To the extent permitted by applicable law, an adult player may be responsible for reasonable, documented losses directly caused by that player’s intentional unlawful conduct, fraud, or infringement of another person’s intellectual property rights.
This provision does not impose responsibility for losses caused by Ollyvon Nigeria Limited’s own acts or omissions, does not override mandatory consumer protections, and does not impose an indemnity obligation on minors.
22. Accessibility
We aim to make Gist Compound welcoming and accessible to a broad range of players.
We welcome reports of accessibility difficulties, including problems with navigation, readability, or gameplay controls.
Players may contact support@gistcompound.com with accessibility feedback.
We will consider reasonable improvements as the Service develops.
23. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Gist Compound, its features, legal requirements, or business operations.
Updated Terms will be published on the website with a revised effective date.
Where changes materially affect registered players, we will provide appropriate notice through email, the game, or another suitable communication method.
Where required by law, we will obtain additional agreement before applying relevant changes.
Continued use after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
24. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
However, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer protection, privacy, or other legal rights that may apply in a player’s country of residence.
Disputes will be addressed in accordance with applicable law, including any mandatory jurisdiction or dispute-resolution protections available to players.
Before initiating formal proceedings, players are encouraged, but not required, to contact us so we can attempt to resolve concerns informally.
